ABOUT THE MASSAGE
Located in downtown, Manhattan New York City. I travel globally often for work as well. I respond fairly quickly when in town. The easiest way to contact me is by text.
My primary intention is to help you feel absolutely AMAZING relieving stress, improving range of motion and circulation. To accomplish this effectively I use my extensive training in anatomy, physiology, neurology and kinesiology. My sessions generally include therapeutic deep tissue, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation,) Eastern Bodywork, swedish, and sports massage techniques. I also incorporate safe techniques I studied becoming certified in Thai massage in Thailand which utilizes pressure point release and stretching depending on your needs or what I am presented with. I am a licensed and insured Massage Therapist, professional, discreet, athletic and strong. I am lean and muscular from a regular yoga practice that helps increase and maintain the core strength required for my work. I have experienced and intuitive hands. 05/09/09 I was looking for a new massage therapist in NY City, a place I visit frequently and I went today for the first time at Desmond’s; that was a treat my body required and deserved. It’s very simple: being a good massage therapist is an art. It requires the study of the human body and the connections between all parts. The techniques are many and when one includes various techniques he has learned and practiced, he creates his own massage therapy and it becomes his art. Desmond is one of those massage therapist artist. I have been massaged by many since the 80’s and most are average. When I am lucky enough to find a great therapist, I go back, every time I can. So, every time I will visit NY City, I will make an appointment for a 90 minutes massage therapy with Desmond. Going to his place also allowed me to re-discover the gentrified lower east side. In addition to being a great massage therapist, Desmond is very friendly; one feels totally comfortable on his massage table. I almost forgot, when I left he gave me some home work: a very simple stretch, using a door frame that I will repeat daily. Thank you, Desmond. 03/02/09 I have been periodically going to Desmond for many years. He is a thoughtful compassionate brotha. His dog, all of 16 years is also a delight to see when I arrived. He has very strong hands and pays attention to detail. His massage is totally therapeutic which is what i needed at the time. He knows his craft. I like the fact that he incorporates stretching numerous times during the session which is important to the body. He is not a clock watcher and I even drifted off to sleep during the hour on his table. I will definitely continue to get massages from Desmond.Check him out if you haven't already.

12/26/08 I wrote Desmond an e-mail, and heard back from him within an hour. We agreed on a time that same day. Desmond was polite, personable, engaging, and plenty easy to look at, especially w/his bright genuine smile. He asked for details about my injuries, aches and pains, preferences, and then set out to work. He was happy to answer my questions in unprovoked detail, which helped build my trust that I was in fact being looked after by a well educated and skilled professional that is clearly passionate about what he does. The massage was certainly not your typical back-focused "rub-down" that I've had *too* many times before. He integrated a number of different massage types based on what I was feeling, and probably needed, including some deep-tissue, and stretching. He is the first therapist I've had in past decade that I did NOT have to say to him, "you can go harder, I'll let you know if it's too much". So it was definitely a therapeutic massage, that left me truly relaxed and feeling like jello for DAYS, rather than just groggy for hours. He's also the first therapist *ever*, that I booked a future appointment with, before leaving my first.

11/18/08 Desmond is a true triathlete, dancer's or men who work - dream massage therapist. willing to heal and Desmond as a professional dancer knows and appreciates how deep tissue, stretching and yoga work together to assist in the best massage I have had in NY. He is a very focussed and professional therapist who is clearly willing to work and open up blocked muscle areas. He has been an absolute Godsend for this athlete. Desmond is a handsome, highly trained and powerful masseur who knows how to work the body and bring alignment, and healing. I get a massage about 1x per week and have just made Desmond my new therapist. He is a complete and highly trained therapist. He is fun to be around and his intake and knowledge about what can be the best massage for you is uncanny and right on. I have not found any masseur in New York that I trust more and is more skilled than Desmond. I hightly recommend him and suggest you get a regular time with him. It's a life changing experience.

11/13/08 Desmond’s credentials and profile impressed me so I decided to give him a call. He responded within an hour of my leaving him a voice mail. He was friendly and professional. We were able to make a same day appointment for later that afternoon. I arrived at his apartment to find a relaxing massage atmosphere such as soft classical music and scented oil burning in an urn. I was pleasantly surprised to see a picture of the human body with the muscles exposed. There was also a small skeleton. I immediately thought, "This guy is serious about what he does.” We spoke about my particular needs, and within minutes I was undressed, and he went to work. He even had a heating pad on the table to keep me warm. It was such a nice touch. Because of his pleasant demeanor and professionalism, I relaxed and let him do his thing. It was fantastic and the 90 minutes seemed to fly by. Afterwards, he showed me stretches and techniques to do by myself and pointed out my problem areas on his muscle chart. I was very pleased with the massage and the experience overall. I will definitely book another appointment with him again.

- Desmond is a former ballet dancer and an AWESOME and well educated bodyworker. He has lived, worked and studied all over the world. He's a constant traveller. His experience as a dancer/yogi and formal training as a bodyworker has left him with invaluable knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, anatomy, physiology, neurology, myology and pathology that assists him in customizing sessions to accomodate the different needs of his clients. He believes the study of bodywork is lifelong.
